Rangers Roundup: Rykov signs with KHL, draft lottery update, and more news

The Rangers now know exactly where they could pick if they do not win the lottery on Monday for Alexis Lafreniere. With Montreal, Chicago, Arizona and Vancouver advancing, New York can select no worse than 11th.

Yegor Rykov departs for KHL

Rangers prospect defenseman, Yegor Rykov has signed with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The Russian blue-liner was acquired from the NJ Devils in the Michael Grabner deal but never really gained traction in the organization.

The 23 year-old left shot rearguard struggled in Hartford and was even scratched several times. Rykov was loaned to CSKA by the Rangers earlier in the week and the signing confirms that he will play next season in the KHL.

New York still holds his rights. Playing sooner in Russia instead of waiting for the AHL season to start in December makes him easier to trade at the draft in October.
