Although the owner of the New York Rangers, James Dolan is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the MSG Sphere in Vegas, it will the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

At the NHL Board of Governors Meeting on Tuesday in Seattle, Commissioner Gary Bettman indicated that while contracts need to be finalized, things were close to being done. The Draft is scheduled for June 28th and 29th.

“It will the first sporting event in the Sphere and I think it’ll be a pretty-well viewed event both in terms of the draft itself and the viral use of the Sphere inside and outside using the globe,” Bettman said. “We think it’ll be fun. We think it’ll be dramatic and compelling.”

The Sphere seats over 18,000 and is the latest venue with state-of-the-art technology built in. It’s calling card is a wraparound LED screen on both the interior and exterior structure.

It should also be noted this will be the last draft before decentralization. Last month, NHL teams voted for the new format.
