Batten Down the Hatches, It’s Rangers versus Flyers!
A win is a win is a win, they say. Some mean a bit more, however. Tonight’s win over Philadelphia would be one of those. With Kreider out of the lineup it will be no easy task.
For pride and a playoff berth, tonight represents the third-to-last game against a playoff-bound team, with the Avalanche and Canadiens looming in April. It also represents the Rangers’ latest prime opportunity to secure a playoff berth.
Sports Club Stats says our boys in blue hold a 97.9% chance of making it in, with an 88% chance of finishing second or third in the division.
Truth is that the Rangers won’t be able to clinch until the final week of the season as they only sit four points up on Columbus, Detroit, Washington and Toronto. It’s not hyperbole to say the playoffs have already started, a theory not lost on head coach Alain Vigneault who’s started Henrik Lundqvist as though he rested during the Olympic break as opposed to winning the silver medal.
Expectations are JT Miller will take Kreider’s spot in the lineup. Rangers will release more info after practice this morning.
Fulltilt Forecast: The NYR will prove their mettle tonight and take it to the Flyers for 2 crucial points in the standings. Will St. Louis finally smash the goose egg he’s laid with the Rangers so far? Let’s hope so! Go Rangers!
