There he was flying down the ice and scoring his 21st career goal at the Olympics. The ageless wonder is playing in his sixth and final Olympics for his home country of Finland.Yesterday’s Norwegian hero Lars Haugen kept them in it versus Canada. Today he was chased after the first period as the Finns continue to rack up the goals. After this contest they have scored 14 goals in 2 games while giving up 5. However, before we crown them as champions, they’ve only played two of the weakest teams in this tournament in Austria and Norway. (Austria lost to Canada 6-0 today)

OVERMATCHED

Team Norway was never in this contest as Haugen was totally off in the first period. Three goals would chase him from the nets and the rout was on. Teemu Selanne who was injured in their first game against Austria was able to play and opened the scoring. Former NYR Lauri Korpikoski scored twice to lead the team. Young and promising defenseman Olli Maatta, had a goal and two assists. By the way, he belongs to the Penguins, as if they needed more offense.

OLYMPIC RANGERS WATCH

Mats Zuccarello was the only NYR in this contest and he was solid. He finished with 4 shots and a -1 rating. The Hobbit continues to impress at the point on the power play but Norway simply doesn’t have enough talent to compete.

Norway will face another winless team in Austria on Sunday at 3AM.
