The Hartford Wolf Pack have swept their first-round matchup against the Springfield Thunderbirds after a 7-1 blowout victory on Friday.

It was a big night for the New York Rangers AHL affiliate, who were led by veteran forward Tanner Fritz. The 31 year-old opened the scoring and then added two more assists to increase the Pack lead to take Game 2 of the best-of-three series.

Fritz also leads all AHL playoff scorers with 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) to date.

“It’s definitely tough playing on the road,” Tim Gettinger said. “We just got to keep it simple. Work hard, get pucks in, play a simple game and build from there.”
