According to Matchsticks and Gasoline, Josh Jooris was noted as following the New York Rangers Twitter account yesterday, thus sparking fear that he had signed with the Blueshirts. This morning the Rangers have announced the signing of the 26 year old, 6’1″, 185 corsi darling to a deal (terms yet undisclosed).

I can confirm that Jooris recently followed the Rangers on Twitter.

Update (11:28AM): NYDN confirms it’s a 1 year deal ($ not yet known).

Update 2:

Here’s what they wrote about him:

Jooris is probably better than a number of forwards on the team.  Players like Brandon BolligMatt Stajan, and Lance Bouma were noticeably worse than Jooris and arguments could be made that he was still better than Micheal Ferland and Garnet Hathaway.  That said, those players are all fourth line players, some of whom might have the ability to fill in on the third line, but shouldn’t play there regularly.  This seems to be a fair assessment of where Jooris would fall – these are players that shouldn’t be retained for too much money since they can be replaced relatively easily.

There is no doubt that the Rangers are revamping their bottom six. Thus far they have brought in Pavel Buchnevich, Michael Grabner, Nathan Gerbe, Nicklas Jensen and now Josh Jooris. Only Buchnevich and Grabner are locks to make it from the names above.

Regardless, this likely will spell the end of Tanner Glass on the 4th line.
