Kravtsov considering return to the KHL

Almost 2 weeks ago we reported that Vitali Kravtsov has a European out clause and can trigger it to go back to the KHL. We can now confirm on the heels of Igor Eronko’s tweet, that we had it with good authority from the Kravtsov camp that this is being considered.

What everyone needs to know is that the clause is for this season only and Vitali can come back as soon as the KHL season ends, likely in February. This same thing occurred with Winnipeg Jets prospect Kristian Vesalainen, so this isn’t unprecedented. (Credit Steven Voogel)

As for reasons, no one can be fully certain at this point but it is more likely financial. Kravtsov ELC only pays him $70,000 in the AHL and he had signed a new deal with his team Traktor in the KHL for more. That is also why Traktor did not cancel his contract so they can retain his rights if he chose to return this season.

The ball is now in the New York Rangers court to decide what they feel is best for developing their prized prospect. If they wanted to, they could get him into the lineup on Thursday by sending McKegg to the press box and Haley to Hartford. But is he really ready? At this moment, it doesn’t appear so.

Stay with us as we follow this story along. Update below.

Let him go back till the end of KHL season.
Shame though, he needs to adjust to North American game and language. Staying would be best, but is up to him.

Just idle speculation at this point.

I agree Tanto…. this is only being speculated right now because of the slow start up in Hartford. If he got off to a hot start this would t be brought up.

Does anyone blame Kravtsov if he is in a funk…… Hartford is topping any top 10 destination for places to go unless it’s places to go to be completely bored.

Disgraceful! Shame on Jeff Gorton! Shame on Quinn. We need his skill here in the NHL. They screwed up on this one. He belongs with the NY Rangers now. Screw Hartford. Wait, February will come around and Krastov will be used in trade bait and will haunt us forever. What is management doing. Are they Smokin Vapors! Bring Kravstov up now. We need his skill and talent now in the NHL. He needs the NHL to learn the North American game. He will learn from fellow Russians here on the team and leaders on the team on the North American game. Wake up Ranger Management! I am speaking to you Jeff “stupid” Gorton.

If money is the issue, how it is veterans can sign two way contracts that can pay they them way more $$$ if assigned to AHL. When was it ever an issue for the Rangers when it comes to money? If I understand this right he can return to Russia, but is still bound toRangers at the end of the season; very confusing!!

What good is he to the team if he scores a goal a game but the guys he’s covering score three? Sure he’s got good hands around the net, but there’s a lot more to being an NHL player. He’s got to learn some stuff. I watched the preseason games he played. He looked like a lost high schooler out there against grown men. He’s not ready yet.

Why can’t the NYR ever land a Rookie who comes in and scores 38Goals, 44 Assists minimum his debut season. We already got screwed with Fil Shityil and Dumbass Lias Anderson. Since the Mcelrath pick it’s been bad. Would’ve liked to have seen KaKa score 2/3 by now. That effort vs EO blew, then they lose their first to a winless team. Now Kravts is going back to Russia???? Prolly his managements hand in getting him NHL time or the highway.
