Let the speculation begin, Pavel Buchnevich absent from Rangers practice

The Rangers took to the ice today without Pavel Buchnevich. This of course will lead to speculation due to the league’s policy on reporting injuries now.

Yesterday, when asked about Buchnevich, David Quinn responded honestly. “I’m not allowed to elaborate on injuries,” the coach explained.

That’s because the new policy specifically prohibits teams providing any information to a player’s absence. While the intent is to protect player privacy if they indeed test positive for coronavirus, it will lead to ridiculous and rampant speculation going forward.

We’ll see if David Quinn can give some sort of answer after practice today. It’s possible the coach can report a maintenance day.
