2017-2018 Rangers Schedule Highlights

On Thursday, the NHL released the full schedule for the 2017-18 season. The New York Rangers will open their season at home on Thursday, October 5th against the Colorado Avalanche. Some other highlights are 28 games against the Metropolitan Division, playing each divisional opponent four times. Their bye week runs from January 8-13.

They start the season with 10 of their first 13 games at MSG and end the season with five of the last six on the road. They play 11 back-to-backs, which is the fewest in the eastern conference. The Stanley Cup Champion Penguins come into New York for the first time on October 17th, and the first game against the Islanders is October 19th. The Vegas Golden Knights make their MSG debut on Halloween night.

Perhaps the biggest highlight on the schedule is on New Year’s Day when the Rangers and Sabres duke it out at Citi Field in the Winter Classic. Six days later the Rangers play their first game in Las Vegas, on January 7th. The Rangers will end the season with a daunting final four games on the road against Carolina (March 31st), in New Jersey (April 3rd), against the Islanders in Brooklyn (April 5th) and finally in Philadelphia (April 7th) to wrap up the season.
