Vigneault started well in his coaching career with the Rangers, but his teams have progressively declined since the 2013-14 Stanley Cup run. Three straight disappointing seasons that saw the Rangers knocked out of the playoffs prematurely, or not making it to the postseason this year, sealed the fate of the 56-year-old bench boss. Vigneault finishes his Rangers coaching career with a regular season record of 226-146-37 and a win pct. of .598, and a playoff record of 31-30 for a .508 win percentage.
The writing has been on the wall all season, and it has finally happened, with Rangers fans feeling much like Mel Gibson in Braveheart
.
