Blue Jackets loss could be Rangers gain

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and that now truly opens the door for the Rangers on two major fronts. As the handshakes finished and the team stepped off the ice, the focus moves to the offseason, and the Rangers stand to gain.

John Davidson for President

The rumor mill is already churning out there that Davidson and the Rangers will be meeting in the upcoming weeks to discuss his return to the organization as President. James Dolan would like to have Davidson in place before the draft.

Of course after the loss JD would not comment on the situation and said all the things you’d expect after a playoff elimination. Still, this is the worst secret in all of hockey, and JD’s affection for NY and the Rangers is evident every time he steps back into the building. This should be a done deal before the end of the month.

Panarin Watch

Artemi Panarin is THE unrestricted free agent everyone will try and get this summer. Now that the Jackets have been eliminated, Panarin will hit the open market and land a boatload of money.

When the game was over both Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky took a lap around the Nationwide Arena which felt like a farewell wave. The bottom line is that Panarin is going to command double digits a year and the Rangers as per a source have him at the top of their list this summer.
