Buyer’s Remorse: How Anthony Duclair for Keith Yandle will be hard to get over

Duclair (USATSI)

Anthony Duclair finished his first full NHL season playing in 81 games for the Arizona Coyotes. He scored 20 goals and 44 points which would have placed him 6th on the Rangers for goals and 5th in overall points. Furthermore, his 8 power play goals would have tied him for first on the team with Derick Brassard.

He’s only 20 years old!

As it becomes more and more evident that Keith Yandle (29 years old) will be breaking the bank this summer, I find myself even more depressed about giving up Duclair. The latest rumor has the Dallas Stars looking long and hard at offering Keith Yandle a monster deal to make their offense even more deadly.

The deal for Yandle was meant to put the Rangers over the Stanley Cup hump – it didn’t work. Now the trading away of Anthony Duclair is a bitter pill to swallow. At the time the deal was made it reminded me a lot of when the Rangers dealt young star, Tony Amonte to Chicago for two 4th line grinders in 1994 (Stephane Matteau and Brian Noonan). Matter of fact if I’m being honest, the only reason I was able to swallow that pill was because the Rangers won a Championship. Sadly, Keith Yandle and the Rangers couldn’t get it done and fans will never be able to accept it.

Especially as we watch Duclair tear up the league in Arizona.
