Canada Crushes The American Hockey Dream

Crosby closes in on Quick (ap)

One goal is all Team Canada needed as they suffocated the U.S. attack from the opening draw. Jamie Benn played hero for Canada today when the U.S. lost zone coverage and Benn snuck in front of Quick to deflect a Jay Bouwmeester shot. The final score was 1-0, but it wasn’t really that close. It was Jonathan Quick and his acrobatics that they gave the U.S. a chance. Sadly, the U.S. refused to dump pucks deep and retrieve them.

A SEA OF RED

The best chance the U.S. had was when Patrick Kane took the puck to 4 red sweaters. Canada once again closed the door but Parise followed the play and hit Price in the chest. That scoring chance was a matter of luck, but Team USA kept skating into it. So no one should be shocked with the result.

OLYMPIC RANGERS WATCH

Rick Nash played one of his better games in the contest. He was key for Canada on the penalty kill and will now face Henrik Lundqvist and Carl Hagelin for gold on Sunday.

Ryan Callahan was all heart and soul with maximum effort. Unfortunately, he lost Benn on the game winner. Ryan McDonagh opened a lot of eyes in the tournament. He is no doubt one of the top defenseman in the league.

Funny, my Gold medal game is now the Bronze medal game as USA and Finland will clash Saturday at 10AM EST.
