CANADA GETS GOING AFTER A SLOW START
After a slow start, Team Canada got moving in the second period, to an eventual 3-1 win versus one of the weaker teams in this tournament. The pace was so slow and timid that even Pierre McGuire of NBC said they looked nervous during the broadcast.
OFFENSE FROM THE DEFENSE
On a delayed call, Shea Weber unleashed a mighty blast from the point to put Canada up by one. Jamie Benn would extend the lead almost ten minutes later off a sweet passing play by Patrice Bergeron who finished with two helpers. The Norwegians would make it 2-1 on a PP goal early in the third, but Drew Doughty answered 1:25 later off a beautiful move to close out the scoring.
OLYMPIC RANGERS WATCH
Rick Nash finished the day with an even rating and 2 shots on goal. He played well and got off a good scoring chance. It was interesting and expected to see him on the PK. As for the hobbit, Mats Zuccarello was one of Norway’s best players. Zucc finished the day with an even rating and one shot on goal. Surprisingly he was used at the point on the power play. Something I am sure Alain Vigneault is taking notes on.
