David Quinn in line to be the next Rangers coach
The Rangers head coaching search saga appears to have almost reached its conclusion after comments from both Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and TSN’s Bob McKenzie.
Friedman originally reported earlier in the day that the Rangers had set their sights back on Boston University Head Coach David Quinn after Jim Montgomery slipped through their fingers and signed with the Stars. Later in the evening on NHL Network, Friedman said that talks between Quinn and the Rangers were heating up and a contract may have been offered.
Bob McKenzie later basically confirmed on Twitter that Quinn is well on his way to becoming the next head coach of the Rangers.
Editor’s Note: I have also been able to confirm with several sources around the team that David Quinn is the Rangers choice and are working out a deal. – Anthony
Update: 8:00PM
As @FriedgeHNIC & @TSNBobMcKenzie reported, #BUHockey Head Coach David Quinn the leading candidate for #NYRangers job. I'm being told tonight, Quinn is ready to accept position. Unless there's a drastic change of heart from one or both sides, announcement likely next week.
