Draft Lottery Results: Rangers get the 2nd overall pick

The NHL Draft Lottery balls were drawn and the New York Rangers will pick 2nd overall.

Suspense was building as the cards were rattled off. When the Sabres dropped 2 spots, the Rangers found themselves in the top three. Jeff Gorton was asked about it and expressed excitement as the Rangers have never selected in the top 3.

Now the suspense is over and come Friday, June 21st GM Jeff Gorton and his scouting staff will get to work and select the best player available. In this case, the Rangers are likely to select Kaapo Kakko.

Kakko is a winger who can play center. He has climbed up the rankings and has some saying he is the #1 pick in this draft. So it is possible that NJ who is picking 1st overall, may go that route instead of Jack Hughes.

Bottom line, the Rangers got the best possible outcome because no one can question if they made the right selection between the two. That belongs to the Devils now.
