Early Report Card: New GM Jeff Gorton (poll)
Jeff Gorton was officially named the new General Manager of the New York Rangers this summer and has already made his mark in the early going. It started at the NHL Draft when he moved up in the second round by trading Carl Hagelin for the 41st pick and Emerson Etem.
The move cleared room for the eventual signing of RFAÂ Derek Stepan and in the process added a replacement for Carl Hagelin with upside and a better draft choice. He also traded Cam Talbot for 3 draft choices, although not the rumored “home-run” many expected and replaced him with a cheaper but adequate option in Antti Raanta.
Since then, Gorton has re-signed all his RFA’s and did so at some of the lowest cost possible. He also added on Free Agent Frenzy day forward, Viktor Stalberg and defenseman, Raphael Diaz.
So how would you rate the early work of new GM, Jeff Gorton?
