Filip Chytil will benefit flying under the radar next season
Kaapo Kakko, Vitali Kravtsov, and Adam Fox.
Those three rookies will have the eyes of fans and reporters alike fixated on them. However, one young star with loads of potential could be flying under the radar next season and that may be a huge benefit to his game.
He’s Still Just a Kid
Filip Chytil is still just a kid at 19 years of age. While he did play a few games in the 2017-2018 season, he completed his first full campaign last year with 75 games. The young forward, who played mostly center tallied 11 goals and 23 points while showing flashes of physical dominance with the puck.
Now with the lineup adding even more skilled wingers in Artemi Panarin, Kaapo Kakko, and Vitali Kravtsov the young Czech may be ready to take off. One key factor for Chytil is that he should be getting more ice time than the 13:47 he averaged in his rookie year. Coupled that with more power play ice in a higher skilled lineup and Chytil should thrive.
The Pressure is On, It’s Just Less
Don’t misunderstand, the pressure is still on the kid and David Quinn will ride him like every other player in the lineup. But as I stated earlier, there will be a ton of focus on all the new players in the lineup. That is going to help him for sure, on and off the ice.
Chytil should enjoy a breakthrough season thanks to all the new talent. With Panarin slotted at the top line, veteran Chris Kreider should be on his left flank. That’s 2 hulking players on one line, paving the way for either a skilled winger like Pavel Buchnevich or Vitali Kravtsov to add some diversity to it. When all the these factors are considered the center should be able to hit 20 goals with at least 50 points well within his reach.
