Flashback Rangers Firsts: Brian Leetch to Kaapo Kakko watch their first goals in Blue

As we wait for hockey to come back, I thought it would be cool to share with you some of these great videos the Rangers and MSG are putting on social media. They include first goals by great Blueshirts and they are a nostalgic thrill to watch over and over again.

Brian Leetch

As of right now, Brian Leetch remains the greatest Rangers player ever drafted. He was an incredible joy to watch and could score with his slap shot and wrister from the point with regularity. The beauty about Leetch was watching him lead the rush and score some breakaway beauties too. However, it is pretty cool to see his first goal as a Rangers be one with such authority.

Mark Messier

The Captain could score them anyway he wanted to. Messier scored a ton of goals in his NHL career, and a lot of them were because of his ability to quickly release a shot from almost anywhere on the ice. Hey! You can’t score 694 regular season goals and add 109 more in the playoffs without a great shot.

Alexei Kovalev

The thing people remember about Kovalev the most was his holding on to the puck and ability to stickhandle with it. What people forget is that he was a hulking size forward and could use that to power his ways for goals like his first.

Mika Zibanejad

The Rangers sniper had a pretty impressive goal when you look at it. At first it seems more like luck, but knowing what we know now, that is an absolute accurate backhander right there.

Kaapo Kakko

The future of the franchise has one of the best first goals as a Blueshirt I have ever seen. Watch Kakko elude the D and put a beauty home.
