Red-Hot Gabe Perreault leads several Rangers prospects heading to WJC
Several New York Rangers prospects, headlined by Gabe Perreault, were named to their respective national teams for the upcoming World Junior Championships.
The 2024 Tournament will be hosted by Sweden in Gothenburg, and will start on December 26th and conclude on January 5th. Team USA faces host Sweden for an exhibition matchup on December 21st to get the excitement going.

Gabe Perreault named to U.S. National Team
Team USA announced their roster over the weekend which included both of the Rangers 2023 first and third round picks, Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue.
This season, the 18 year-old Perreault has been on a tear with 25 points in 17 games. His 20 assists is tied for second in the NCAA. It’s something Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has taken notice of from New York.
“I see his stats and contributions at Boston College,” Laviolette said of the promising forward. “It’s nice to see we have a player that’s off and running.”
Meanwhile, Gabe’s fellow Rangers’ draftee and BC teammate Drew Fortescue is having a strong season on defense. Also 18 year of age, he’s posted 3 goals and 4 points in 17 matches.
“We’re excited about our roster and obviously we have some great, great players who we had to release,” said John Vanbiesbrouck, general manager of the U.S. National Junior Team and also the assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. “We like the depth we have up and down the roster and we look forward to getting over to Sweden and having the chance to continue to prepare for the tournament.”

Adam Sykora added to Team Slovakia
Sykora, 19, has registered 3 goals, 8 assists, for 11 points in 25 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack this season to date. In his first full pro season, Sykora is becoming one of the Pack’s top players as a rookie.
The Rangers selected him with their first pick of the 2022 draft in the second-round. Prior to joining the Pack last season, he scored 8 goals and 21 points in 38 regular-season games this for Nitra in Slovakia and added 4 points in 8 playoff matches.
“He doesn’t stop working and he’s highly competitive,” Director of Scouting John Lilley said. “I don’t want to take away from his skill set and his ability to skate. But he’s definitely a high character, hard-working player.”
