Gameday: Rangers set to host and beat the Islanders
The Rangers will be taking on the Islanders tonight at MSG. Coach Quinn and his charges are set to put it all together and get their first win of the preseason. Here are some takeaways from today’s practice.
Practice notes
Artemiy Panarin was flying around today with his line mates and should be ready to dazzle the Garden faithful. It will also be the first time that we get to see the AMP line (credit Larry Brooks). The Rangers top line of the Breadman, Zibanejad and Buchnevich will be what most fans will be watching closely tonight.
Additionally, Brendan Lemieux is going to make his preseason debut on the third line with Ryan Strome and Jesper Fast. Lemieux will be bringing that hard-nosed play this lineup desperately needs up front.
Some other notes yet to be fully confirmed by David Quinn is if Henrik Lundqvist will play half the game or 2 periods. And will he keep the top PP unit of Kreider, Zibanejad, and Kakko up front with Panarin and Trouba on the points. These are a few additional things to look forward to tonight.
One thing is for sure, the Rangers will be paying close attention to details and won’t be playing that loosey goosey style that has gotten them into trouble early.
Putting this out there…
Kaapo Kakko is going to put on a display of power and skill tonight. I fully expect his first preseason goal and multiple points. It’s showtime!
