After an OT loss against Tampa Bay, the Rangers were right back at it versus the Canadiens. Unfortunately for New York, Montreal came storming in and came out victorious, 4-2. Joel Armia notched a hat trick for Montreal and Brendan Lemieux scored his first as a Ranger. Henrik Lundqvist and Carey Price kept both teams in it with splendid saves on each side, but New York just fell short. Here is our recap.

This wasn’t a terrible game by the Rangers, but overall, the Canadiens, after a surge from New York in the first, was able to control the New York attack and lull them to sleep. The whole night, Montreal seemed to have the blueshirts fall right into their system. A lot of errant passes and missed sticks, resulted in chances missed by the Rangers. This allowed Montreal all of the time in the world to come, take the lead and never relinquish it. A last minute empty net goal for Joel Armia sealed it for the Rangers, alongside his first career hat trick.
Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves in what was another fantastic performance. New York recalled defenseman Libor Hajek from Hartford, and made his debut tonight. Hajek looked solid in his own end, skated well with the puck and was sound positionally. Brendan Lemieux scored his first as a Ranger late in the third period, in what has been a good trial run so far for the newly acquired winger.
