Laine and Mason Help Winnipeg Jet By Rangers
Here is our recap of the Rangers 3-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
Missed Opportunities – The story of this game for the Rangers is scoring chances that went awry. The Rangers had more than a handful of “Grade A” opportunities to beat Winnipeg but were unable to convert. Winnipeg netminder Steve Mason made a couple of key saves in the third period, including one on Mats Zuccarello, but the Blueshirts had three or four odd-man rushes that missed the net. Maybe instead of aiming for the net and missing high, the Rangers should’ve been aiming for the train tracks below and they would’ve hit the net. In fact, the Rangers had 60 shots attempts on Steve Mason’s net and missed the cage on 15 of them. I’m not great at math, but it can’t be good when on 25% of your attempts you aren’t forcing the goalie into a save. Were the Jets favored to win this game? Of course. But by missing so many chances you are handing the other team the two points.
Next Game: The Rangers continue this brutal part of their schedule on Thursday when they face the Tampa Bay Lightning (aka Rangers South). Puck drops at 730!
LETS GO RANGERS!!
