The Last of the Rangers UFA’s Is Gone: Brian Boyle Joins Callahan and Stralman in Tampa
Brian Boyle has signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning for 3 years at 2.3M per. A contract that makes you wonder why Sather didn’t offer as much, or did he? Remember, there is no State Income Tax in Florida, meaning a similar deal in NY would need to be close to 3M per.
Brian Boyle to Tampa Bay. Three years, $6.9 million. Good team, his good friend Teddy Purcell used to play there, & his wife is from TB

On breakup day, Brian Boyle also expressed his desire to do more for the Rangers then just kill penalties. Alain Vigneault felt Boyle’s role was right and maybe this deal signifies his desire to be more than just a 4th line guy.
Of course, considering his wife is from Tampa and his good friend Ryan Callahan is there, must’ve made the decision easy. Mix in another teammate in Anton Stralman and Boyle should feel right at home.
Brian Boyle spoke many times about how much he enjoyed being Ryan Callahan’s teammate and how much he learned from Cally.
