Late night Panarin Watch update
Today while the teams in and out on Artemi Panarin bounced back and forth between insiders like a ping pong ball, I had a BBQ with some friends. Now why would I not be perseverating over my phone waiting for any information on Panarin? Isn’t that what I should be doing as the owner of this site? That’s because I got my answer very late this morning and it hasn’t changed since.
So What News Is Out There?
It all started this morning with the guys from TFP; David Pagnotta and Dennis Bernstein on NHL Radio saying the Isles are out, maybe the Rangers too and Panarin is likely headed to Florida.
Well this tweet sparked one of my sources to contact me to ask exactly who said that? When it was all said and done, it was explained to me that Paul Theofanous (Panarin’s agent) doesn’t speak to anyone, so where is this coming from? The takeaway is that the Blueshirts are still in it and that the Panarin situation is very much like John Tavares last year. No one knew for sure up until the signing, with most people believing it was going to be the Islanders.
Now we have others tweeting out later tonight that Panarin wants to play for the Islanders? Didn’t just this morning someone say they were out?
Still giving the Rangers the edge
Listen, I’ve remained consistent that I think the NYR have an edge because they’ve been linked the longest. Panarin and his better half are still in NY posting photos on Instagram and living it up as I type this. Plus, the last big insider to speak on the matter, Frank Seravalli is sticking with the Rangers too tonight.
So this is where we are. No decision has been made. The Rangers are not out of it. And for me, Panarin will either be scoring goals on Broadway or the Sunshine State. It’s not hard to see him deciding either way, but I just can’t ignore his remarks about wanting to play in a big city and Rangers rumors dating back to last summer.
