Lundqvist Leads the Way, Shuts out Switzerland
Sweden, on the back of Henrik Lundqvist. beat Switzerland 1-0 in the team’s second game in the round robin portion of the Olympic tournament.
Long Live the King
Henrik Lundqvist stole the game away from the Swiss, who poured it on in the first period, out shooting the Swedes 13-5. Lundqvist would walk away from the game, not only the victor but with his third career Olympic shutout It was a 26 save performance where he had to stand on his head a few times to keep his team in it late. This was another game where it was the Henrik Lundqvist show, and with how hot he’s been during the first two games of the tournament, watch out.
Alfie Does it Best
After a scoreless first two periods, the teams were buzzing to start the third period. Chances were flowing back and forth between the two teams. But late in the third, after a shot by Erik Karlsson went off of Swiss goalie Reto Berra landed on the stick of Daniel Alfredsson, and into the open net with 8:21 remaining into the third.
Hagelin Watch
After a solid first game, which he had 2 shots in a little over 12 minutes, this game was nothing different for the speedy forward. Hagelin doubled his shot total with four, but only played 9:40 this time around. He left late in the third with a mouth injury. The NBCSN broadcast thought Hagelin injured his shoulder, but that was not the case. He took a stick to the mouth, and was being fixed on the Swedish bench. He’ll be ready for the teams finale tomorrow against Latvia.
