Mats Zuccarello Injury Update: Out 3 More Weeks
Thursday non-Olympic Rangers reconvened for practice as they get set to resume the NHL season. Friday we find out Zucc will miss 3 more weeks.
The Rangers leading scorer is still having difficulty gripping a stick after hurting his hand in Sochi. Mats’ injury occurred when he was slashed versus Austria.
Initial reports coming out of Sochi indicated there was no fracture and Zuccarello and the Rangers dodged a big bullet. We learned later that was false and he indeed suffered a “small fracture”. With Derek Dorsett ready to rejoin the Rangers on Feb 27th, he should take Zucc’s place. If not, JT Miller will get the call.
Update: Andrew Gross reported the fracture will keep him out through the March 5th trade deadline.
The 3-4 weeks includes the lead up to Rangers first game post Olympic break next Thursday. So 2-3 weeks missed in NHL schedule.
