New York Rangers say Barclay Goodrow possible for Hurricanes series
The New York Rangers were able to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins in 7 games without Barclay Goodrow.
Things are about to get much harder against a far superior and grittier Carolina Hurricanes team. It’s a matchup that desperately calls for a player like Goodrow, who was lost after Game 1 to what head coach Gerard Gallant labeled a lower-body injury.
“Goodrow is week-to-week. That’s all I’m saying,” Gallant said prior to Game 2 against the Pens.
There’s been plenty of speculation about Goodrow’s injury because he did not miss a shift and was on the ice just prior to Evgeni Malkin ending the contest in triple OT. Many believe it occurred earlier in the game while blocking a shot.

The mere fact that Goodrow was labeled week-to-week indicated the seriousness of the injury. Remember, Goodrow played with a broken hand in the Stanley Cup Final last season to give the Lightning their second straight championship.
It’s been 13 days since Goodrow was hurt and today the head coach provided an update.
“He’s still the same,” Gallant said. “He hasn’t skated yet but we’re not counting him out for this series. He’s not going to start the first couple of games but we’ll see how it goes.”
Goodrow, 29, had a great first season with the Rangers after a trade and sign in the summer. In 79 games, he recorded 13 goals, 20 assists, for 33 points. All are career highs.
“He’s a big player and we’re going to miss him,” Jacob Trouba said. “We love the depth of our team. It’s not like he’s gone. He’s still around the rink– next guy up and hopefully he gets back as soon as he can.”
Barclay Goodrow hasn’t been seen since the injury but last night tweeted for the first time since November. He didn’t write anything except send out emojis of Bread.
For the uninitiated, that was for Artemi “The Breadman” Panarin scoring the OT series winner.
