New York Rangers lineup vs Preds sans Vitali Kravtsov; Halak starts
The New York Rangers lineup will once again be without forward Vitali Kravtsov as he’s out with a stomach bug versus the Predators in Nashville on Saturday night.
It’s a shame that the 22 year-old forward will be out after a solid game on Thursday in Detroit that saw him register his first point of the season (an assist).
“He’s got the flu today and he doesn’t feel too well right now,” Gerard Gallant said. “The whole team played well (last game) but he had some good scoring chances.”
The coach was not sure whether Ryan Reaves or Ryan Carpenter would be replacing him for tonight. In addition, there’s no word on Kravtsov’s availability for tomorrow’s game at home against the Arizona Coyotes.
Here’s tonight’s game and broadcast info:

New York Rangers lineup vs Predators
Gallant did confirm that Jaroslav Halak would be in net for this matchup. With a back-to-back set, Igor Shesterkin should start versus the Arizona Coyotes at MSG on Sunday night.
Halak, 37, is 0-3-1 on the season and desperately looking for his first win as a member of the Blueshirts. He’s sporting a 3.48 GAA and an .882 SV%. The netminder’s last game was his best as he stopped 33 of 36 in a 3-2 OT loss to the Red Wings at the Garden on November 6.
“He’s played real well,” the coach said. “Three out of the four games he gave us a chance to win every one of them. He’s a good veteran goalie and deserves better.”
For his career against the Predators, Halak is 15-4-6 with a GAA of 1.99 and a .927 SV%.
Here’s the projected lines:
- Kreider – Zibanejad – Vesey
- Panarin – Trocheck – Gauthier
- Lafrenière – Chytil – Kakko
- Blais – Goodrow – Reaves
- Lindgren – Fox
- Miller – Trouba
- Hajek – Schneider
- Halak
- Shesterkin
