NHL Roster Freeze start at midnight, will the Rangers do anything?

Tonight at 11:59 PM, the NHL roster freeze will begin. That means no trades, no waivers, and call ups/send downs until December 27th. So could the Rangers make a move?

All’s Quiet On The Rangers Front

For all the clamor among fans for a defenseman, there is literally nothing going on that has the Rangers attached to it for weeks. Of course one name that has been and will be attached to the Rangers until the day he is dealt, Kevin Shattenkirk will likely not be moved today.

As far as most know, Shattenkirk has not budged on the fact that the only team he would discuss extension with before free agency is the NY Rangers. Plus, the Blues are playing well and he is one of their key players.

So when it comes to trades, I don’t believe you will hear the Rangers make a move.

Behind The Glass

One thing that could happen today is a call up…and yes I’m talking about the rumblings of Tanner Glass returning. Could the Rangers send down Marek Hrivik or Matt Peumpel? Thus far neither has really distinguished themselves and the image of Lundqvist being run over is still fresh in the minds of AV and Gorton.

We will know what the Rangers decide by Midnight.
