Here’s some news from Larry Brooks of the NY POST:

[su_quote cite=”NYPOST” url=”https://nypost.com/2016/05/10/rangers-prepping-to-unveil-top-prospect-as-1st-summer-domino/”]Multiple sources have told The Post that while there is more to be done than simply dotting I’s and crossing T’s, it is possible — though not certain — that an entry-level deal with the 21-year-old could be reached by the weekend.[/su_quote]

Finally! Some good news coming out from the Rangers organization.

Pavel Buchnevich who was selected 85th overall was a draft pick from Columbus in the Rich Nash deal. Wouldn’t it be odd that Nash could be dealt before the season starts and this kid never gets to play with him? Regardless, this highly skilled Russian winger is only 21 years old and could be a game changer for the Rangers.

Brooks also confirmed the burca sac surgery and a 2-3 week recovery window.

On the RFA front:

[su_quote cite=”NYPOST” url=”https://nypost.com/2016/05/10/rangers-prepping-to-unveil-top-prospect-as-1st-summer-domino/”]The Rangers have yet to begin talks with pending restricted free agents Chris Kreider, J.T. Miller, Kevin Hayes and Dylan McIlrath — all of whom have salary arbitration rights — or with pending unrestricted free agents Keith Yandle and Viktor Stalberg. The club is not expected to pursue a deal with deadline rental acquisition Eric Staal or with fellow pending free agents Dominic Moore and Dan Boyle.[/su_quote]

I’m not surprised at this point with any of this report. Jeff Gorton is in California leading his first post season meetings. As per Brooks they just started today so they are laying out all options before deciding on a plan of attack.
