FullTilt NYR Quick Hits: Looking Back At Game 2
Easter Sunday’s matinee playoff matchup started off the same way Game 1 ended. The Rangers, having sustained early pressure from the Flyers, had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead only 8:22 into the game. However, the Flyers knew they had to come out hard in Game 2 or risk falling into a 2-0 series hole.
Even though the Flyers found themselves plagued by the same problems that cost them in Game 1 – careless penalties. They settled down thanks to Jakub Voracek, who could be seen urging his teammates to calm down. He started the comeback by scoring at the 14:14 mark of the 1st period to bring the Flyers within one. They never looked back.
QUESTIONABLE CALLS
Both teams expressed unhappiness with the officiating as there were several horrific calls made throughout the game. Twice the Rangers were called for Unsportsmanlike conduct for diving – once on Zuccarello and the other on Derek Dorsett. The Flyers Kimmo Timonen was called for holding but replays clearly showed it was Claude Giroux who should have been penalized. Hopefully the officiating will improve as the series shifts to Philly.
