OFFICIAL: Rangers recall Joey Keane from Wolf Pack
The Rangers announced that the team has called up defenseman Joey Keane from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
It’s unclear for now as to why Keane is being called up, especially with the team already having seven defensemen on the roster. Is there a trade brewing? Is it just insurance for Marc Staal, who missed last night’s win in Minnesota with the flu? We don’t know for sure, but you can’t argue that Keane hasn’t earned the recall.
In 48 games for the Wolf Pack, Keane has registered 28 points (8G, 20A) from the blue line. Those numbers rank him fourth on the team in scoring and tied for thirteenth in the league amongst defensemen. Keane’s eight goals lead all rookie blueliners in the AHL, and he is fourth in points amongst U21 AHLers.
