Poor play explained? Oscar Lindberg out 6 months after dual hip surgery
We all saw it but couldn’t explain it. After starting the season as a house on fire, 24 year old rookie Oscar Lindberg fell off the face of the Earth. Today the New York Rangers announced he will be out 6 months due to dual hip surgery.
OFFICIAL: #NYR Oscar Lindberg underwent a successful simultaneous bilateral hip labral repair. The expected recovery time is six months.

The next question will be, who will replace now both he and UFA Dominic Moore? 6 months will mean a November return and that means a missed camp for a 2nd year forward. Knowing Alain Vigneault, that won’t bode well for his immediate reinsertion into the lineup.
The other and much bigger concern is Lindberg’s future. We are talking a 24 year old kid who just had to have both hips fixed. There are no guarantees that these issues won’t rear their ugly head again. So will Jeff Gorton now look to the UFA market for a better 4th line solution?
This news may explain why Lindberg scored 17 points in his first 27 games and only 9 in his remaining 41. This news also puts the Rangers prospect’s future in serious doubt as well.
