Practice Buzz: Alain Vigneault pulls Yandle to the side, calmly calls out Nash and MSL to score
As we all sit here today contemplating what the Rangers must do to break out of their offensive doldrums, AV basically took a more hands on approach. Yes, while fans and experts are asking to change up lines, or looking to obscure reasons like Tanner Glass again…AV pulled aside his best offensive defenseman and called out his two best scorers.
Asked about on-ice convo with Yandle, AV says it’s a hockey conversation that will stay between him and player, but not atypical.

AV says Brass/Nash/MSL close to being difference makers but, “at the end of the day” Nash/MSL have to score and Brass has to help them. — Andrew Gross (@AGrossRecord) May 5, 2015
I guess when Esa Tikkanen called them out and I did just a few hours later, it was the right call? I mean, instead of sitting here and analyzing all these advanced stats – how about we use our eyes and common sense and point out the obvious! Now that’s refreshing in today’s day an age.
The Rangers best offensive players need to score. That’s it…plain and simple. Stop looking for some special formula, especially when we can all see that the Rangers have the talent and are getting chances. Bottom line, it’s time to bury those chances and it needs to come from the primary scorers, not the secondary guys or the support lines.
Time to “put on the big boy pants” as AV once quipped, and get it done.
