Quinn basically set his forward lines and other notable takeaways
The Rangers finally hit the ice today for testing and both John Davidson and David Quinn have weighed in on the season. Here’s some key takeaways from the last two days.
Quinn already has his 1st line set
The biggest takeaway from David Quinn’s presser was setting his top line before a single preseason game was played. A top line of Zibanejad with Panarin and Buchnevich sounds great. However, what that means is Vitali Kravtsov is slotted to start on the 3rd line. Quinn’s 2nd line will likely be Chytil flanked by Kreider and Kakko. That’s a monster line with all three players at around 6’3″ and 200lbs.
It is also important to note that Lias Andersson and Brett Howden are slated to start in the middle. That means Andersson will center the 3rd line with Kravtsov and Fast. Howden will play on the 4th line with Lemieux and Strome. It looks like Namestnikov will be the 13th forward.
John Davidson set playoffs as a goal
JD looks really happy to be home. He explained to the media yesterday that the excitement around the team is felt throughout the organization. Fans are excited, players are excited, basically all of Rangerstown is excited but that needs to be tempered with the reality that this team is very young. Still JD believes this team can make the playoffs and that is a goal set for the season.
Tony DeAngelo Not Going to Sign Anytime Soon
I will have more on this tomorrow, but Larry Brooks tweeted today that the two sides are far apart.
