Last November, the Rangers’ claimed Matt Puempel of waivers, the speedy winger was picked in the first round by the Ottawa Senators in 2011. Since that time, Puempel has skated in 27 games with the Rangers scoring six goals and three assists.
Matt Puempel did not make the Rangers roster out of training camp and it was doubtful that he would ever crack the Rangers’ roster again. Ryan Sproul, the 6’4 defenseman was likely added to bolster the Wolfpack’s (Rangers AHL affiliate).
