Rangers prospect Adam Sykora staying in Slovakia this season

It looks like New York Rangers prospect Adam Sykora is staying put in Slovakia for the remainder of this season.
Back in December, a report by Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek indicated there was a possibility that Sykora may stick around after the World Junior Championships ended in January.
According Marek, he stated the Rangers were looking to bring Sykora over to North America after the conclusion of the tournament. A trade was in the works that would send him the Medicine Hat Tigers to a higher ranked WHL team, Saskatoon Blades.
Sykora was taken by New York with their first pick of the 2022 draft in the second-round. He was also selected first overall pick by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2022 CHL Import Draft.

Per Matej Deraj of Denník Šport, Sykora will remain with Mitra which is something the feisty forward is very happy about.
“Heard I was supposed to be part of a WHL trade to go there but Rangers ended up turning it down,” Sykora said. “They wanted me to stay in Nitra. I’m happy, I feel good here. Men’s hockey helps me, it’s a good step.”
The 18 year-old has 3 goals and 11 points in 22 games this season for Nitra. He registered one goal in five WJC games.
Sykora registered 10 goals and 17 points in 46 games with Nitra last season prior to being drafted. He added two goals in five games for Slovakia at the 2021-22 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and one goal in four matches at the 2022 World Juniors.
