Now let’s check in on the latest buzz concerning the Blueshirts.
Brennan Othmann playmaker
The Peterborough Petes are all even with the London Knights at one game each thanks to a two assist night by Brennan Othmann. Game 3 of the OHL Finals will shift to Peterborough on Monday.
New York’s first-round pick in 2021 has been instrumental this postseason in the Pete’s success. The 20 year-old forward registered 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points in 56 matches split between the Flint Firebirds and Petes during the season. In the playoffs to date, he leads the Petes with 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 19 matches.
Hartford Wolf Pack down
The Hartford Wolf Pack are now being tested as they face elimination after dropping the first two games to the Hershey Bears in the Atlantic Division Finals.
On a positive note, Will Cuylle registered his first goal of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
This past regular-season, Cuylle recorded 25 goals, 20 assists, for 45 points in 69 games with the Pack as a rookie.
With the Rangers having limited cap space to fill out their roster next year, the 21 year-old forward has a real chance to make an impact. Cuylle has two years remaining on his entry-level contract at a team friendly $902,500 AAV per Cap Friendly.
Hartford will try and stave off elimination in this best-of-five series on Wednesday night as they host Game 3.
Rangers at the World Championship
The World Championship is underway with favorites Team USA and Team Canada leading their respective groups.
Kaapo Kakko is participating with Team Finland and has one assist in two matches. The 22 year-old had his best season in the league since being taken second overall in 2019 with 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in 82 games.
Filip Chytil is playing for Czechia and has one assist in one game. The 23 year-old had a career year for the Rangers with 22 goals and 23 assists totaling 45 points in 74 games. New York rewarded him with a four-year extension at an AAV of $4,437,500.
