In addition, the reported deal is very team friendly. The Rangers biggest asset this offseason was their cap space and seeing Gorton make a free-agent signing on the cheap is a good thing.
In addition to the Claesson news, the NY Post reports that the Rangers are bringing back C/W Vladislav Namestnikov.
Post has learned that Rangers are re-signing Namestnikov. Deal is believed two years at around $4M per. They are not signing him to trade him.

Namestnikov didn’t do much after he came over to the Blueshirts from Tampa Bay, putting up just four points (2G, 2A) in 19 games. Bringing back Namestnikov gives the Rangers a versatile forward that has played with two of the league’s best forwards. In addition, should Filip Chytil or Lias Andersson struggle in their first full season in the NHL, Namestnikov will be there to give them a break in their expanded roles. Hopefully, he can bring that experience and scoring touch to the Rangers.
Year 1: $3.5M base salary plus $500k bonus; Year 2: $4M salary https://t.co/PrwXTT8wyU
