New York Rangers call up Jonny Brodzinski after Filip Chytil injury
Although there’s no official word on the extent of Filip Chytil’s upper-body injury, the New York Rangers made a move that indicates the center may miss some time. On Friday, they called up Jonny Brodzinski from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Brodzinski, 30, was leading the Pack in points with 11 (6 goals, 5 assists) through 7 games this season. In 2022-23, he played in 17 games for the Blueshirts registering 1 goal and 1 assist.

New York Rangers recall Jonny Brodzinski
The Rangers have a day off today after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 on Thursday night. It was a costly win as both defenseman Adam Fox and Filip Chytil were injured.
During the first period, Chytil was hit hard in the chest by Jesper Fast. Although Chytil’s glove came flying off, it was Fast who wound up on the ice. Shortly after, MSG Network cameras showed Chytil in a little discomfort that may have lingered, eventually leading to him leave later in the second period.
Chytil, 24, has recorded 6 assists through 10 games to date. Initially, I suspected if Chytil were to miss some time, Barclay Goodrow would slide into the third line center role. Now with the call up of Brodzinski, the Rangers could opt to slide him into that slot. It should be noted that the Wolf Pack captain is familiar with rookie Will Cuylle from their time in Hartford last season.
The Blueshirts head to Minnesota to take on the Wild tomorrow night. According to CapFriendly, the Rangers have less than $8000 in cap space after this call up.
