Rangers caught standing around in loss to Boston (BOS 3 v. NYR 0)

The Rangers are a streaky team I tell you. Unfortunately, this latest one isn’t a good one. NY has now been shutout in back to back games for two losses. As is the case with sports, they get another change tonight to turn it around against Columbus.

Nothing like a couple of losses to send Ranger fans into a panic. Here’s the deal, when too many of your best players don’t perform – you lose. The Rangers need more from Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal and Marty St. Louis especially with Stepan out.

“We got it going pretty good but by no means are we thinking let’s lay off a little bit,” MSL said after the game. The best thing for the team is to not “over think it” and just “scratch and claw” their way to victory in Columbus as he put it.

Cam Talbot let up a terrible rebound that Boston cashed in on the fragile Rangers psyche in the first period. He admitted that he shouldn’t have given that one up, but there was no help or excuse for the next 2 goals that simply saw Rangers standing around.

On the last goal, Loui Eriksson was literally having a cup of coffee at the side of the net before he scored on Talbot. Head Coach, Alain Vigneualt was none to pleased with the effort last night.

“We need better puck movement from our defense,” was the first thing AV highlighted. That was problem one over the last 2 games as no Rangers blue-liner was up to snuff in getting out of the zone. Problem two is the entire team’s defensive effort.

“We had a couple of mistakes without a doubt. They basically had 2 tap in goals,” Vigneault lamented. Bottom line the Rangers are going to need to elevate their play from the goalie on out to Tanner Glass if they hope to break this latest streak.
