Rangers Chris Kreider ready to turn on jets in NHL All-Star Skills Competition
The NHL All-Star Weekend begins tomorrow with the Skills Competition followed by the Game on Saturday, February 5.
New York Rangers and NHL goal leader Chris Kreider will be representing the team for the Metro. He has 33 goals this season, 17 of those on the power play. Kreider will compete in the fastest skater competition.
In 2020, Kreider posted a 13.509 which was good for third in the competition. Islanders forward Mathew Barzal won the event with a 13.175.
NHL All-Star Weekend
The midseason game at Las Vegas has its fair share of star power among the four captains selected by fan vote. Selected to head their squads were the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin (Metropolitan Division), the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews (Atlantic), the Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon (Central) and the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid (Pacific).
Philadelphia Flyers’ Claude Giroux replaces Ovechkin as captain (COVID), and the Dallas Stars’ Joe Pavelski replaces MacKinnon as captain (injury).
