“That was a little better, eh?” was how head coach Alain Vigneault summed up the rebound performance by his Rangers. Of course, they’ll need to do it again to make it mean anything.

The Rangers, who collectively stunk up the Garden on Monday, put forth the effort required to win in the NHL last night. Buoyed by Cam Talbot’s best performance of the year, they took it to the Flyers and were never in trouble.

Kevin Klein, who continues to impress got them on the board first in the opening period. A power play goal by Rick Nash sealed the deal by the 2nd period. The Blueshirts hit post after post and were stoned by Steve Mason’s incredible goaltending, otherwise this is a 6-0 blowout.

A game after Marty St. Louis told the media that he didn’t understand how the Rangers could live with their last performance, had a different perspective yesterday. “To get better, you need the right diagnosis,” MSL explained, “we knew what we didn’t do.”

What they didn’t do was compete for a whole game and pick up their assignments in their own zone, against the Flyers they fixed it all. “We had the puck a lot and we made poised plays,” Marty continued, “tonight was one of those nights where everybody wanted to make an impact on the game.”

The biggest impact was made by Cam Talbot, who’s earlier play was raising doubts. “It’s a little difficult knowing that I haven’t really contributed much this year,” Cam said wearing the Broadway hat. “To be able to provide a big win after a low stretch for us is pretty big.”

On the other side – well, let’s just say GM, Ron Hextall went cursing into the locker room and reporters heard it all before he slammed the door.
