Rangers complete the comeback against rival Devils
Entering their third meeting of the season with the Devils, the Rangers were trying to end a six-game losing streak. It didn’t look good after the first 20 minutes, but the Rangers would score four unanswered goals to send the Garden Faithful home happy.
Ryan Strome – The Mississauga native had himself a three-point game, recording two goals of his own and assisting on another. Strome got the Rangers on the board as he redirected Kevin Shattenkirk’s shot past Cory Schneider to pull the Blueshirts within a goal.
Strome would add the empty-netter to seal the win for the Blueshirts, capping off one of his best games since joining the Rangers back in November.
Libor Hajek – It was a milestone night for the Rangers rookie defenseman, scoring his first NHL goal to tie the game early in the third period. Hajek took the pass from Chris Kreider and wired a shot over the glove of Cory Schneider for his premier tally with the Blueshirts.
Unfortunately for Hajek, the 21-year-old would not be able to finish the game after suffering a separated shoulder following a hit from Blake Coleman. You can read more about it here.
Vladislav Namestnikov – The Russian Ranger scored the winner for the Blueshirts, taking the pass from Mika Zibanejad and one-timing it off the post and into the back of the net. Namestnikov has been a solid player for the Rangers all season, and he could be a nice middle-six forward for the Rangers heading into next season.
Henrik Lundqvist – He didn’t have to make too many tough saves, but Henrik Lundqvist made the saves when necessary to get his team to victory. Lundqvist stopped 22 of the 24 New Jersey shots, only two of which came in the second period.
Next Game: The Rangers head to Western Canada for a matchup with the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drops at 9!
