Rangers continue scholarly approach to franchise building
No high draft picks? No problem for this Rangers organization as they continue to successfully court college stars. Vinni Lettieri has agreed to join the Rangers with terms to be released later today.

Lettieri plays for the University of Minnesota and has improved statistically every year he’s been there. The smallish forward (reports conflict between 5’8″ to 5’10”) scored 19 goals and 37 points this year, an 11 point improvement.
The scouting report says he has always been a talented offensive player but his size could be an issue. Additionally, he is considered as deceptively fast because of his quick feet. Although he is good defensively, Lettieri’s future success will likely need to be in the top 9 because he isn’t a grinder.
At 22 years of age, cracking the Rangers lineup in the top 9 seems pretty difficult. That does raise an eyebrow as to what the Rangers future holds for players like Nash, Grabner, Fast, and Lindberg next season.
Rallying the Recruits
#Blackhawks were the other team that came very close to Lettieri, but #nyrangers got him. Attended camps w em, Stepan, Skjei helped recruit

Kreider helped with Hayes, and Hayes helped with Vesey. Now it appears Skjei and Stepan worked to help bring in Lettieri. Skjei in particular was a teammate and friend to Vinni in Minnesota which likely made his decision easier.
