Rangers go “Wild” for 5 goals in third period, beat Minnesota
Last night the Rangers put on a performance for 2 periods that wouldn’t look out of place in a zombie movie. For 2 periods, they plodded through the game causing many fans to catch up on sleep at home and in the stands.

The Blueshirts did their best to try and lose this game early. Kreider took a 5 minute major and got the boot. CK20 was a victim of his own size and speed when he took out Wild, Jonas Brodin on a boarding call. Oddly enough, Stephane Quintal (head of player safety) was in attendance and will be sure to review the hit.

Minnesota went to work on the PP and effectively put everyone to sleep. There is a reason they have 0 goals on the man-advantage this season, they’re terrible. Still, when the penalty expired they caught the Rangers napping and scored 2 quick goals before the team shook off the drowsiness.
In the 2nd period, John Moore made sure to get Quintal’s attention with an inexcusable headshot to the Wild’s Erik Haula. It cost the Rangers another 5 minute penalty and will certainly getMoore a suspension. Minnesota did not cash in, but found the back of the net later in the period for a 3-0 lead after 2.
Then the Rangers came into the 3rd period with nothing to lose and blitzed the Wild and Darcy Kuemper. NY had only mustered 8 shots through 2 periods, effectively putting the Wild goalie to sleep. He and Minnesota weren’t ready for the 12 shot barrage that saw Kevin Klein, Rick Nash, Derick Brassard, Anthony Duclair and Mats Zuccarello all cash in on their chances.
Jim Cerny captured this great quote from Derrick Brassard, “I can’t even explain what just happened, to be honest. We just talked to each other after the second (period) and we said let’s try and score one goal and go from there. We got that one and it gave us a lot of momentum. The first goal, when you’re down 3-0, is just so important.”
Anthony Duclair, who should’ve been over the moon tying the game at 4 with his first NHL goal, came to the bench asking the team to get “one more. After the game he was awarded the Broadway Hat and told John Giannone, “It hasn’t sunk in yet I don’t think. It was a big comeback for us.”
The Rangers don’t play again until Saturday versus Winnipeg. Derek Stepan would be eligible to return on Nov 3rd if he’s on schedule. Stepan who was injured in the preseason is skating and feeling better.
Alain Vigneault walked away last night from the game with concerns but impressed with his team’s 3rd period performance. “It’s not easy at all to come back in this league at any time,” AV said. He’s right! According to Elias Sports that was only the 2nd time in NY Rangers history that came back in the third period down 3-0.
A “Wild” win for sure.

RAGING RANGERS
1. Anthony Duclair – The kid belongs. I know he’s only 19 and the Rangers probably have legit concerns, but he can play and is flourishing when given an opportunity on any line. Congrats to The Duke on his first of many!

2. Kevin Klein – He has the only 2 goals for the Rangers from the blue-line, give the man his due folks! He has stepped up admirably in Boyle’s absence
3. Derick Brassard – Brass was a beast last night in the 3rd period recording a goal and 2 assists. Brassard has 7 points in his last 7 games.
REELING RANGERS
1. Marty St. Louis – He seems a little out of sorts lately. We all know that the he will sort it out and get it going, but he’s had a bit of a tough stretch lately with just 2 points in his last 5 games.
2. John Moore – Not only is he not producing offensively, he took a terrible penalty that will cost him and the team. Mike Kostka will take his place in the lineup, making their current defensive struggles more problematic.
3. Ryan Malone – He was reinserted into the lineup and was ineffective with a -2 rating.
