Konowalchuk coached Rangers prospect Ryan Gropp in Seattle before leaving the club to join the Anaheim Ducks as an assistantĀ coach. The Rangers have not had a lot of success drafting from the WHL, with the most notable former prospects to come from the league has been Brandon Dubinsky, Dylan McIlrath, and current up-and-comer Ty Ronning. Hopefully, Konowalchuk’s experience within the WHL as a coach will translateĀ to his scouting career and bring the Rangers some high-end talent.
