Rangers hit all the right notes and top Blues 4-2
On Fan Appreciation Night at MSG, the Rangers gave the Garden faithful a lot to be appreciative of, as Alexandar Georgiev and company toppled the Blues from St.Louis 4-2. The home crowd was electric throughout the evening, as Georgiev made 44 saves, along with Jimmy Vesey netting the game winning goal in the 3rd period. Mika Zibanejad hit the 70 point mark on the season, assisting on a Pavel Buchnevich goal to help tie the game at 2 just after Ryan Strome put the Rangers on the board in the second. Overall, a solid effort by the Rangers. Here is out recap.
Before the game, the Rangers announced that Connor Brickley, Freddy Claesson and John Gilmour were the healthy scratches for the evening to welcome back Marc Staal and Chris Kreider to the lineup. Outside a sloppy first period, where the Rangers defense was nowhere to be found, New York found a way. Re-grouping in the second, their overall effort level was raised, resulting in four consecutive goals. Alexandar Georgiev continues to raise his game, as he made strong save after strong save. Pavel Buchnevich is also impressing, as his game has elevated and kept that play up tonight, on the top line with Zibanejad and Kreider.
Looking at this team and the way they’ve played over the last month or so after the deadline, you can see where this team needs improving, but games like tonight show what this team can do right. This was an exciting game all around. The difference between this season and last season is that, even after the Rangers are out of it, the team still gives it its all night in and night out. Being in attendance, it was exciting to watch this crop of players give their all and compete. Games like this will become a common occurrence once the rebuild is finally complete.
Rangers next game is Sunday afternoon at 12:30PM in Philadelphia as they take on the Flyers on NBC. LETS GO RANGERS.
