New York Rangers News and Rumors
Alexis Lafreniere says deal coming soon
In a recent interview with La Presse, the 21 year-old winger said that his agent and GM Chris Drury are progressing in discussions.
“It’s coming,” Alexis Lafreniere told La Presse. “My agent and the Rangers are in discussions, I hope it will be settled in the next few weeks.”
Lafreniere has posted just 91 points in 216 regular-season games thus far in his career. As the two sides work out the particulars of a new contract, many expect it to be a bridge deal for two years with an AAV of around $2.5 million.
Ryan Lindgren rumors
Earlier this month, a lot of buzz was generated by a mailbag response from Arthur Staple of The Athletic. He answered a fan’s question regarding Lindgren’s pending contract expiration next summer and speculated that a long term deal of 7 to 8 years with an AAV in the neighborhood of $4 million seemed plausible. At the same time, any stall in negotiations could also mean just letting him walk.
Lindgren, 25, registered 29 points in 63 games this past season with a team leading +29 rating. He’s extremely popular among his teammates and forms the Rangers top pairing with Adam Fox. This summer, Forever Blueshirts featured the defenseman in an article as the team’s top glue guy.

Rangers let two draft picks walk
The deadline to sign college draft picks was August 15th, and the team opted to let two draft picks walk. Forwards Riley Hughes and Eric Ciccolini were both removed off the Rangers reserve list per CapFriendly.

Team St. Louis won in the shootout. The game honored the memory of Hayden Thorsen, who played for the Mid-Fairfield Junior Rangers.
